Default $7E8 and $7E9 Codes

Getting a series of random "dings" after driving a while. Usually from one to six consecutive dings, but irregularly. When I checked, I'm getting these codes ($7E8 & $7E9) on my basic/cheap scanner, but no codes when AutoZone checks my 04 1500.

Any idea on what would cause this, and is it an expensive fix?

From what I am seeing, that is generally the result of a failing IPM....

Thanks for the info. I see that the inner workings can be repaired, but I think I'd prefer replacing it to be on the safe side. Any idea on where to locate one? Not seeing it on Rockauto, which is where I usually go.

Not sure you are going to find one new..... the truck is almost 20 years old. There are rebuilders out there though... but, I don't know anything about them. Junkyard might be another option, but, that would be luck of the draw on whether you got a good one or not.
