Default Front lower balljoints - what diameters press tools?!

Cheers everyone,

have been to the famous German TÜV, regular 2 year road safety test.
All good, except the front left lower balljoint is worn out so needs to be replaced.
Already ordered a new one, but now I need a balljoint press tool to get it in.
Does anyone know the diameters for the press tools that are needed? Currently don't have the time to go and measure but want to have all the parts and tools here.

Thanks!

Looking at your profile, I'm guessing you're talking 1500. Those aren't too awful to do, the basic toolkit from parts stores in USA have all the right adapters. Can't talk to which adapters fit.

Getting the spindle to drop out of the ball joint was a bear when I did mine. This video shows a 4x4 but basically the same.

I watched that video already, mine is a 2004 RAM 1500 4x4 HEMI, so looks to be 1:1 the same.

Hopefully it will all move out, so then just need the correct press tool.
Will measure it now as it seems difficult to find the informations though.
Thanks for your help so far!

Yes. You have to press it out and in. Mine didn't have the split ring to remove. I had to grind down the rim on the top to press it out.
Edit: And a BMFH.

Did they originally came with a rim/lip instead of the split ring? I will have to check that and order a press tool though.
Thanks everyone for your help!

That I don't know. All the videos I saw only 1 didn't have the split ring.

Thanks guys, I replaced the ball joint now.
It had a split ring already, it was a "Moog problem solver" installed there but the rubber boot was ripped and no grease in there.
Now I have the new one in. The general press tool from Amazon worked fine, the right diameter press inserts where included.

Now the only question left: what type of grease should I put in there?
Dorman said a "lithium type grease", is that correct?
Thanks guys!

Any grease is better than no grease. If you have a grease gun, just use what's in it.

Have no grease gun yet, but just ordered one, including some Liqui Moly multi purpose lithium type grease
