Default 07 Ram 1500 4x4 hemi no gears at all suddenly this morning

Hi everyone,
I just got back from 2 weeks at the lake cabin and was towing my boat there and back. Probably about 2 hrs each way. Both trips no problems, no shifting issues and running strong.
About 1 week into the trip I had to drive into town to get supplies and when I fired it up the serv 4x4 light came on for a sec then went out. I shifted into drive and it made a weird grinding sound and maybe a bit of a clunk and then it ran and shifted fine after that. Last night I drive her and the boat home and there were no problems. This morning I went to drive away and I had no gears at all... No movement at all... It's like the t case is in neutral or something..... I also tried to switch into the 4WD lo and hi and noticed no lights came on at all. I have no CEL codes at all. Tranny fluid is there and clean, no burnt smell. I noticed the rear output shaft seal has a bit of a leak but when I opened up the t case and went to fill it up it just poured back out so it wasn't empty.

Any ideas here? Back to work tomorrow and no truck.

I appreciate any help or insight you guys may have.

Likely an electronics problem. Try resetting the computers. (disconnect the battery for 30 minutes) See if that changes anything.

Thanks for the reply. I found the problem this morning. The t case had put itself into to neutral like I thought. I pushed in the little "N" button by the 4WD switch with a pen and she reengaged. Bizarre but hopefully this helps someone else in the future.

Great closing and thank you for posting the solution.
Do you have any thoughts on how it might have, or why it did malfunction?

Perhaps resetting like HeyYou had said might be a good thing just like a computer reboot
I would disconnect the battery negative (-) and then use anything conductive to touch the positive (+) battery wire. On Chrysler minivan, by doing this, it drains off the capacitors and any residual charge in the computer(s) (modules) 30 seconds should do.

Please, can you go into more detail?
Was the truck running? just power on?
When it reengaged did it do so with a little noticeable clunk?
Was this a procedure found in the owners manual or perhaps online or in the FSM?

Please excuse my ignorance, I have only been a RAM enthusiast for all of about 50 days now... Trying to learn as much as I can

I did pulled the battery cable off but that didn't fix it. I knew it had something to do with the t case and then I found that little button next to the n on the 4wd switch. No clunk I could just hear the servo doing its job. Time will tell if this keeps happening or not but so far so good
