I posted in the wrong section so I'm reposting here. I made an offer on a 2003 Ram 2500 with the 5.7. It's over 200K on the truck. What years did they have problems with the heads cracking.

 

You maybe thinking of the 5.9 magnum head? Not aware of widespread 5.7 head issues.

 

It''s a moot point. When I looked at the truck in person, the engine was knocking. The guy said it does that when cold. I never heard one do that and while we were talking, the engine had a large CLANK and locked up. Coolant and oil started gushing out of it. The guy din't seem too surprised. I dodge a bullet on that one.
