Default Truck just starts by itself

Can anyone help me out here. My 2005 Ram 1500 just started without the key or me around. I went outside after arriving at work and the truck was running. I do not have remote start. When I went to check it out, then it would not shut off, until I put my foot on the brake. Any ideas what is is going wrong.

Sounds like you have the capabilty of a remote start malfunctioning. My old trans am had remote start and as soon as u hit brake peddle it would shut off.

Yep -- you may not have installed a remote start but somebody did at some point!

Check your battery health too. Some remote start systems will automatically crank if the voltage falls too low.

Yep that typical a response of a remote start system. It will disable if you put your foot on the brake without the key in the ignition.
If it happens again shortly then put your key in and turn it on and then press your foot on the brake. 50/50 it will stay on.

John M is probably on to something.. lots of remote start systems do have a "smart start" capability that under certain conditions will start the vehicle automatically.. One is if battery voltage falls to low.. another is temperature and there are others..

They may have rigged up the Rstart trigger to your factory key fob, which can be done in a few ways.. go outside and press the lock button twice or at least a few times.. try same thing with unlock and see what happens.

I can tell you 100% you have a remote start installed in the truck now. whether it is a programming feature or a malfunction that caused your truck to start last night I am unsure.. but you do have one that's for certain.

Three things from this thread:

1) Does it have a remote start installed? Have you owned it since new? If not, are you SURE there is not a RS installed?

2) Did you try pressing the brake pedal? Anything happen?

3) Have you tested your battery?

Default 2010 dodge ram 1500 engine starting by itself

I have a 2010 Dodge RAM Laramie with remote system fully functional. Everything was working fine until a few weeks ago one of my Tire Pressure Sensor stopped working. The next week here was happening... when I shutdown my engine and walk out of the truck, a few seconds later my truck engine starts by itself.

Even if I'm inside, turn off the engine and prepared to get out, then the engine turn itself on.

1. My truck battery is quite new, less than 9 months old.
2. I changed my FOB battery just in case.
3. Gas tank full.
4. The only thing out of the ordinary, is the damage air tire sensor.

Can someone help me to shed some light in the matter?

Thanks!
