I obviously will need a new rotor and wheel bearing assembly, but wondering why the axle feels so loose. Maybe the new bearing supports it? Also the nut almost came completely off and I'm not sure if I can clean and reuse the threads. If I can what size die do I need?
I'm wondering why this happened. I believe when the other side went a sensor told me there was a problem.
Axle is supported by the bearing on the outer end. The nut being loose likely caused the bearing to fail. (that nut holds them together....) I would be real tempted to REPLACE the outer axle stub......

I think I may replace the stub too. Problem now is I don't know how to remove the axle. I want to replace the universal joint while I'm at it. I thought the axle would just pull out but it seems connected inside.
It *should* just pull straight out.... I don't think there are c-clips, or anything in the diff... but, that doesn't mean dodge didn't change the design, but, neglect to tell me. If it REALLY doesn't wanna come out, pull the cover, look inside, see what ya got.
Well I got it finished and did new rotor and pads on the other side too. I didn't get more than a few blocks away and it started grinding. I suspect I got a bad bearing? It's not the breaks because breaking doesn't make the sound go away. rrrrr
