Default P0700 no other faults

My 2006 4.7 is setting a P0700 and disabling cruise. There are no other codes present, it did have a P0068 map sensor code when I cleared the first time but it hasn't come back. I find this as a generic TCM faults present code but these are a combined PCM all in one are they not? I'm using ALFA OBD to read the codes, I would imagine that would pickup everything. I tried connecting to the transmission instead of engine on ALFA and had no success. Trans shifts fine., good fluid, correct level. I really don't care other then the no cruise. If I clear it its back in less than a mile or so. I believe something is going on, but without symptoms or faults, its hard to know what.

Yeah, that's a generic code, and is usually accompanied by another code, that indicates what the real problem is. Without the second code, you are guessing at what might be the problem......

Well I pulled out my basic hand held. Hit view trans DTCs and it shows a P0736 i believe it was, incorrect reverse ratio. Cant believe that would read trans DTCs and alfa wouldn't. Cleared it, see if it returns. Need to diagnose the map code, i see that's a TPS/MAP correlation, the truck runs a high rpm/surging idle, say around 1100 RPM unsteady +/- 200RPM. I keep my foot light on the brake and wait for the RPM droop to drop it in gear but I'm guessing its still taking it toll on things. Ordered a MAP sensor without double checking the code. Guess I'll double check for a vacuum leak and see what happens.
