Spark plug & Performance question...
Had this thought come to mind recently & I dont have an answer yet on it...
If I advance timing via tuning with the original spec'd plugs so there is no pinging on 87 octane fuel, can I go to a colder plug am I able to advance timing further & stay on the 87 octane fuel?

no knock sensor... there are bosses (?) for them under the IM though, I believe it is used on the HO motor which was intro'd in 2001. That would tell me there are versions of the JTEC ecu that support the knock sensor.
GM had knock sensors back in the 80's...... Why is dodge so far behind the curve?
I would be tempted to do some investigation into adding that capability to your engine.... Then, you can run timing at the ragged edge ALL THE TIME.
If things get out of hand, the knock sensor will detect it long before you can hear it.... and adjust accordingly.
Aside from that though, I don't think running a colder plug will give you much in the way of forgiveness on timing.
