HEMI competition?
I am looking at the back cover of the Feb.2006 Motor Trend,I see an add for a 345 hp Chebby silverado"Vortex Max". The add says the chebby has 345 hp and 380 lb.ft. of torque,more towing capacity then a HEMI. Has anyone laid eyes on one of these yet??
On another note,this Mag has the new Challenger and Imperial on the cover with more pics inside,Man,that Challenger is one sweeeeettttt ride!![sm=yikesomg.gif]

Yes, it offers a whole 5 more ft/lbs of torque. What will make a difference is that add on parts will be more benefitial for the Chevy than the Dodge. Besides, if I was towing as much weight as they claim the truck can, I'd be towing with a 2500 Mega-Cab Cummins.
I also believe the new Chevy 6.0L is available on the 1500HD and not the regular 1500, I could be mistaken, though.

OK, I checked and yes, you can only get it on the 1500HD. By the time you add all of that weight, you're gonna need more than 5ft/lbs torque to beat the Hemi at the track. Funny how they love to put "Hemi BEATING 380ft/lbs of torque(@4000rpm)......." everywhere. I'm not nocking Chevy, but give it another year or so when Dodge ups the ante to keep everyone in the HP races...
Hmmmm, the new 6.1L or 6.4L Hemi with MDS in a RCSB truck, sweet. Better up the HP for the SRT-10 Rams or just put the new 6.1L into the regular Rams and the 6.4L into the SRT-10 Rams.

theres always a catch when brand X tries to play catch up,Dorf has to supercharge to make power and chebby has to use hd parts to make it hold up to the hp/torque

I think it is SO funny when people come on forums and talk about how much hp the HEMI has and beating everyone else....what type of mods to make it faster...etc etc etc...
and now you are worried about adding more hp to the SRT-10??? ahahah
you all want more hp..not the thread starter personally...but in general....and then a week later we have 10 new threads about how to save gas money!!!!!
what do you need more hp for when you cant afford the gas as it is!!! lol
now we got the mega cab!!....watch...in two weeks or so...we will have a bunch of new threads on what intake or exhaust to get to save gas money!
funny thing is...if you spend 500 bucks on intake and exhaust.....it will literally take you a couple of years to get that money back with the whopping .2mpg you save.
anyway....the chevy HD is heavier than the ram so 5lb tq is doing anything for it.....and BTW...that motor has been available since 2003 (SS)..but you could have specialy ordered it if you wanted....now its just standard.

. How many threads do we see that state...just bought new Ram.....NooB with a question...you get the idea. I love this forum.What I don't really care for are trolls and people that drop F bombs everywhere and show blatent ignorance in general, but that's a different topic by itself.

well the silverado SS was introduced in 2003 and has the 6.0 vortec moter with 345hp and 380lb/tq and AWD.
you might have been close with him when both of you were stock....but you went on to say that he added headers,intake,catback,programmer...in which case he would MURDER you...lol
chances are...he doesnt have a 2003-2005 silverado SS.

The truth of the matter is that I've been fortunate to learn here that GM horses are much larger than those of DC, perhaps because DC has inadvertantly or secretly been reporting their figures using the European system?
