Default New Motor

Hello, I purchased a 2005 Dodge Power Wagon with a bad Motor 6 months ago. I pulled it out this week and found it to be a Jasper replacement engine. I'm looking for the best engine replacement options. Mopar has a brand new crate Gen 3 5.7 345, 383hp for around 5200.00. Does anyone know what problems this would present and would it work.Does anyone have any suggestions on which way to go. Long block , short block, rebuild Jasper replacement? Someone recommended MMX but they are expensive.
Thanks

I might have a chat with Jasper, and see if there is any warranty left on your dead motor. (my guess would be no... but, hey, ya won't know if ya don't ask.)

For the Mopar motor, does it come with a pcm???

No you cannot use that engine. Not without an expensive amount of custom changes. 2005 PW, any 03 1500 & 03-08 2500/3500 5.7 is a drop in. The 04-08 1500 engines will work but they use EGR (your truck does not) so you'd have to cap it and the 06-08 engines specifically use MDS; while your truck can't use it and the default mechanical position is off so it won't matter, it is something to be cognizant of.
