Default 2005 Ram 1500 fog lamp wiring

I'm working on a 2005 1500 with 5.7 Hemi

It's got almost 300k miles and obviously ~20 years. The bumper ‐‐ which appeared factory -- has fog lamps and the connector is there at left front fender.

However the headlight switch is the wrong style and has no pull-out provision for fogs. It's possible the bumper has been replaced after all these years. Or the headlight switch has been replaced.

Is the connector there at left front fender regardless? Is there any other way to tell if the vehicle was equipped with fogs from the factory?

To see if it originally came with fogs, get a build sheet from here. All caps for the VIN please, else it fails.

I know on the second gen trucks, the pigtail on the radiator support was there, whether the truck came with fogs, or not. Wouldn't hurt to pull the headlight switch, and see if the fog wiring is there, or not..... If it is, then you just need the intermediate harness, from the pigtail, to the fogs.

all 3rd gens, atleast SLT trim an above for sure shipped with all fog light wiring in place (except bumper harness), 2nd gens were the same way in later production. All you need to do is add the correct fog lamp switch and install the lights/harness. (relay also in 2nd gens.) I'm not sure if the early 3rg gen 02-05 requires a relay as the PDM is not as full integrated as a the 06 plus TIPM. I have a couple early 3g trucks here i can go check if they have a fog lamp relay location.

On 06+ TIPM there is a parameter for fog lamps present, however it is not required to be set for the light to function, they do however remain on during high beams, I like this though.

I can confirm that the 02-05 PDM has a fuse and relay location for fog lamps, so these would also need to be present for fog light function
