This is what I found under my truck today while installing some running boards that I picked up from the junkyard. I've looked online for leaf springs and their going for over $350 a pop brand new oem. I looked online and I can pull a set of leaf springs myself for $30 from the same junkyard I got these running boards from and every ram I looked under still had it's leaf springs... I think the choice is obvious here. I plan on just pressing in and out new bushings and throwing those on the truck. Surely even used leaf springs are better than what's under my truck right now, right? The procedure seems pretty simple but I guess my question is has anyone here done this before? Is it worth it to just cough up the dough for brand new oem springs? Just wanna hear some outside opinions here
Used springs will likely be just fine. Getting them is the fun part, after all the weight of the truck is sitting on them...... If the yard will take 'em off for ya, that would be best......
Just keep in mind that is that there are different sets/spring packs/number of leaves/spring rate listed by option code (and also vary by year).....randomly grabbing a set may cause the truck to behave differently and affect ride height and towing ability. For example:

Wow. Lot more variations than I thought... I'll definately be picking the leafs from a 2002-2005 crew cab because that's what I have (pre-facelift). Should I be measuring from the center of one bushing to the other to make sure I'm pulling the right one?
I think they are all the same length, it's just spring rate/number of leaves that varies. That, and a spring that has 'relaxed' after being under a truck for a couple decades...... Yeah, measuring ain't gonna help.

I see. So if I wanted the softest ride possible; I'd want the springs with the lowest spring rate... is their a way to find this out?
