Grinding bindin sound in 2h

Just got a 02 ram 1500 with 5.9 from my mom it’s had a humming sound in the rear end since she’s had it. When I got it she told me it was stuck in 4hi I got it to switch to 2hi but it’s making a grinding bound up sound when in 2 wheel anyone have a thought ?
