If I have a towing package on my ram 1500, what class is it?

 

Class IV, I believe.

 

What's that rated for?

 

I believe the QC 1500 with the Hemi is rated for towing up to 8300 lbs. I bet it could do more though...

That is with the factory tow package....I have the same setup...just added a brake controller and tongue/ball for the receiver

 

brake controller, thats for if the trailer has brakes right? So, from the factory, we're rated to tow 8300 lbs?

 

yep....my 17 foot enclosed trailer has electric brakes so i added a brake controller which simple plugs right into the supplied harness that comes with the towing package (harness is located behind the emergency brake pedal)

yep....its in your manual or you can check on dodge.com to compare the ram and see what the towing capacity is.


Im pretty sure the reg cab can pull 9000 lbs or 8800 and since the QC is heavier already...it is rated for around 8300lbs.

 

The class 5 hitch is rated at towing I think 12000lbs. However the truck can't tow that much. It depends on your gear ratio and engine size the 4.7 with 3.55's can do just over 6000 and with 3.92's just over 7000, with the HEMI its over 8000
