Default Firm shift 3rd to 4th after service

Howdy all, my first post, proud new owner of a 2004.5 2500 150K 2-owner 5.9. Thanks to all who participate on this forum, I've gotten a lot out of it.

I just did new-owner maintenance on the 48RE.
 • Replaced the Neutral Safety Switch.
 • 2000-2007 Ram 5.9L Diesel BD Valve Body Electronics Upgrade Kit
 • Poor man's flush
 • Adjusted the front (2nd gear)/rear (low & reverse) bands.
The 1-to-2nd & 2nd-to-3rd shift seems improved & feels real nice... actually noticeable now (but real nice, "like new" noticeable)
The 3rd-to-4th shift is a bit firm... not as in extreme, "oh crap, pull this thing over", but just pretty good kick & more than the other 2 shifts.

Anything to worry about?

Prior to the service shifting was pretty unnoticeable, which I understand to be not that great & signs of things loosenin' up/slipping.

4th gear is just a solenoid being energized, it's a yes/no proposition, so, if you running higher line pressures, I would fully expect that shift to be a bit more noticeable.

Resolved... HUGE SHOUT OUT to CascadeTransParts for their Problems After Borg Warner Solenoid Installed - COMMON ISSUES & FIX 42RE / 44RE / 46RE / 47RE / 48RE posts. Yeah, I knew weeks prior that I need to make sure the solenoid was fully seated clicked when I put it in (at least I put it in the right slot on the bracket! P ) . Well, I didn't recall that being the case after the repair/driving the truck, so yes, I dropped the pan & checked... sure enough, didn't even have to drop the solenoid block, just pushed it & it went "click".

Thank you, thank you, thank you Cascade Trans Parts! Drives like a Cadillac now.
