Been here. Replace your switches. They are crappy from the factory and they don't last forever.

The only switches I can find are used Ebay. Dodge used two different switches. Mine are 3 wire with hard wired directly into the switch with a connector on the end. Others have a slot for the connector on the switch.

yes, exactly.
front drivers side wheel bearing hub abs/speed sensor plug.
it just did it to me again 2 days ago. Cruise turning itself off. Reseated the plug, is working fine again.

Did you have to pull caliper bracket off to get to the sensor?

No. The plug is on the frame rail behind the fender well cover. Follow the cable up and across the upper control arm.

Thanks. I'll pull it and clean it.

For YEARS I also have had this problem come an go on the old 2004 unit. Usually coincides with a brake inspection or front end servicing. This truck has only one wheel speed sensor on the drivers hub. The others are in the transfer case and transmission. .......
What I found was that the connector plug on the front drivers hub sensor sometimes needs to be reseated. When I clean it and reseat it ... the cruise control works fine. When the cruise control is not working, exactly as you have described, if I go under the fender and do a wiggle and a resquish of the connector ... it is working again. What electronically would be happening is the sensor signal becomes intermittent and the truck thinks there is slipping and sliding going on so it disengages cruise control. An essential safety feature I am very thankful for on winter roads.

Other than that front hub coincidence, for the longest time I was thinking it had something to do with the gear shift position slider plate clip wearing out ,... which is sitting on the top of the valve/solenoid body in the transmission.

An easy 2 minute check is to go reach under the vendor and go after that wheel front tires and more https://level4x4.com/ hub sensor plug, maybe you'll get lucky!
Been chasing this for YEARS on my '04. Always seemed to pop up after brake work or front end service.
Turns out the connector on the driver's front wheel speed sensor works loose. Cruise cuts out because the PCM sees an erratic signal, thinks the wheel is slipping, and disengages as a safety measure. Go under the fender, wiggle and reseat that connector — cruise comes right back.
One loose plug. Hours of frustration. Worth checking before you replace anything else.

If that behavior continues, or, starts spamming, he'll be gone.
