Default Not so funny story!

I have been a member here since November and I have read posts about people taking there Rams to the track and racing at lights. All this time I have been thinking these people are crazy. I have a 2003 QC 1500 Hemi and I have always thought it was kind of a dog. I love the truck but I figured it's a truck it doesn't need to be fast. I have 2 Camaros and this was my first truck so I figured all that HP must be for pulling not for going fast. We the other day I found out there was something wrong with my gas pedal. When I first step on it nothing happens for the first 1-2" of pedal and then it starts to go. Well now that it's fixed my Ram goes like a bat out of hell so I am sorry for thinking everyone was crazy.

Somethin's kinda weird here. While the '03 does not have torque management like they introduced in the '05 (I think), the throttle is still "drive-by-wire". I don't see how there could be anything wring with the pedal itself.

Maybe it was a problem with your ECU?

My friend fixed it when he was doing my brakes and I haven't talked to him since I picked it up. I will ask him and post it up here.

Default RE: Not so funny story!

I finally got the info from my friend about fixing the play in my gas pedal. This is what he gave me.

"Throttle cable box located on driverside inner fender just forward of the wheel where throttle turns into electrical signal. Cable, if throttle jammed down too hard, has a clip lock located on the side of the box to keep it locked in place. If this clip pops out or breaks, causing the cable sleeve end to pull inside throttle box, causing slack in throttle box, causing slack in throttle adjustment. If cable sleeve is broken, throttle cable need replacement. If it has just popped out of its slot, push to lock in place. There is no adjustment with this system. The cable pull gets turned into an electrical signal here, and is pre-set."

I hope it helps.
