Voiding The Warrenty..
Well then, shoot! I'm getting it anyway. I keep all my original parts just in case. I dropped my 98 Honda Civic with eibach springs and put 17's on for shoes and a TRD exhaust. Kept all that stuff in case I do decide to sell it. Getting my Borla on Monday as planned.
Ok, just talked with the owner of my dealership.
You need to talk to your dealership to determin wether or not they will void your warranty for having a Cold Air Induction, Throttle plate spacer, Cat-back exhaust, or headers. NOTE
O NOT REMOVE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS!!!! THEY MUST STAY ON THE VEHICLE!!!
None will damage the engine by themselves, as all they do is allow the engine to breathe more freely. It is basically up to your dealership.
I got lucky, my dealership owner and most of the mechanics race oval, and drag race. He knows that allowing the engine to breathe easier will not cause bad oiling, or other internal motor issues.

According to the Magnuson-Moss Act (which only applies to residents of the United States) states that:
"Under the Magnuson-Moss Act, a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage. If the dealer cannot prove such a claim — or it proffers a questionable explanation — it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission administers the Magnuson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law."

Check it out- They have to prove the aftermarket part caused the need for repairs- Just thought Id clear it up a little bit-

Does Dodge offer any sort of lift kit for the Ram? I know Toyota used to on the Tacoma, and it was covered under warranty. I have friends with jacked up F-150's and Silverado's that they bought brand new from the dealer with "dealer options". I know it sucks that they charged out the ***, but used parts that could easily be bought commercially from the leading manufacturers. However, they are covered if anything goes wrong then.
I bought the extended warranty on my '05 because I plan on keeping this truck until the wheels fall off, so I don't want to do anything to void that. It might be worth paying a little extra for that piece of mind.

Yeah I just picked up a Banks monster exhaust system and a Volant CAI for my 04' rumble bee. I'll have to talk to my local mechanics here and see what they say. Hey, if worse comes to worse I can always wait until my warranty expires...in about 64,000 miles!!! Man will I have a lot of driving to do. But what do you think could be grounds for them saying it voids the warranty? With the intake i'd imagine if the air sensor was messing up, but what of the exhaust? Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

All you have to do it unbolt the intake and put the old one back on if you are having problems- no one would even know- Plus they have to prove that the intake caused the sensor to fail- nearly impossible- just dont do any mods that arent bolt on before your warranty expires- easy on easy off- then take it to the dealer- thats what I do-
I have a heavily modifided SRT4, I have spent thousands of dollars in MOPAR engine/turbo upgrades all put on at Dodges own MOPAR SPEEDSHOP. Technically I have voided the conditions of my cars warranties, this being said I have never been denied warranty work by my Dodge dealer! I have heard that it all depends on the individual dealers, some are more leniant with aftermarket upgrades.
Earlier this month when I bought my 2006 2500 4x4, it already had a suspension lift and aftermarket off road rim tires (toyos, 36" I think), I think the lift is a six inch. In other words the truck already has a bunch of aftermarket upgrades. I was told by the owner of the Five Star dealership that every single upgrade is covered under the manufactors warranty. I was told I could get warranty work done through any dodge dealership and just because I have a modified truck my factory warranty is not changed, because it was done by a Dodge dealership.
So go figure...
Hears another one, after I had a local offroad shop level up the front of my 1500 hemi 4x4, after a week I took it to the Dodge dealer I bought it from and had the truck aligned for free. Even though I only had a few hundred miles on the truck and it was obvious that I had done suspension work to the front!

New to forum so when I read that adding a K&N #77 CAI could void the factory warranty I called K&N and asked them if this was true. They said I had to ask the dealer. Called dealer and they said that adding the K&N would void the warranty on the engine if they believe that it was the cause of the problem. They sighted me an example of a car that recently had come in for warranty work that was experiencing excessive oil consumption. They said that since it had a K&N after market CAI they would not honor the warranty claiming thet the CAI allowed dirt/pollutents into the engine. Now I am worried that having the K&N CAI will bit me if for some reason that I have future engine trouble. Probably will take it off just for the peace of mind. Has anyone had similiar experieinces? They said having my dual CAT back exhaust would not be a problem.
Thanks.
Thanks.
