Not sure what you mean. If you want UConnect, It's going to cost you.Even with the CAN bus, you still have to purchase the parts - thetelematic unit, the mirror and the harness for the mirror. All together it can range anywhere from $400 to $550 depending onwhere you get it. I rummaged thru dodgeparts.com (if I can remember correctly) to get the low parts pricing, then I went to a local dealer to purchase them which they matched. I already had a GPS/Sirius radio unit in the truck. I still needed the harness from Ted, which cost me around $75- $85 including shipping (forget exactly).

Unfortunately it's only a $275 part when ordered new as part of the vehicle as long not including the radio that needs to be in the vehicle thatsupports it. Otherwise, it will cost you. All in all it cost me about $700 which included $200 well spent bucks to pay someone to put it in.

Ok I have all the parts I have the LX Harness, mirrior, the black box, and the mirrior wiring harness. I have a 07 Dodge Ram. The problem I am having is the connector on the passenger side A pillar it is smaller than the one that comes from the mirrior harness..........HOW did you make this connection?? Plus the Lx Harness has some extra wires with connectors crimped on them where do these go??

Cool. Just don't bother connecting it to the current A pillar harness. Just connect the new LX harness to the mirror, then run it down the pillar to the back of the radio.Unplug the radio, plug the radio intot he harness, and the other endof theharness into the radio. Plug the telematic (the blackbox) into the harness plug as well. If you can get it to a Dodge dealer or someone with the Starscan, have them run it to add the radio to the CAN.

If you are not sure, call Ted, assuming you bought the harness from him. He will guide you.

btw- the instructions have been posted in this thread once or twice.

Yes I have read that post many times but it does not show how he is making the connection to the Mirror harness..................There are six wires that have stakes soldered on them and then I have the Factory mirrior harness that is suppose to plug into a plug on the A pillar but that is not there in my Truck there is a smaller plug but does not match up to the mirror factory harness. My question is do I just splice those six wires into the mirror harness and if so how are you guys doing that?? There are ten wires in the mirror harness with a connector and I have six coming out of the Black Box. I will try and take some photos tommorrow maybe it will make more sense.

Ok well assuming that the 06 is the same as the 07 You are correct, the harness that currently resides in your a-pillar is no longer as the harness that comes with the u-connect mirror has a much bigger/different plug on it. Dodge engineering at its finest. This devaites from the lx platform because they have the same plug regardless. Anywho the mirror harness should have three wires for the auto-dim feature: Pink/Dark Green, Black, and White/Light Green. The mirror harness should also have 6 u-connect related wires. So you would splice the 3 auto dim wires together. Solder is the most secure but butt splices may surfice. Then do the same with the 6 u-connect wires. I may suggest you gander over at the hemi truck club if you havent already. They can assist you in a service manual which would give you exact pin numbers of the different wires.

I dont know if any of this jiberish makes any sense but in short you should just splice all the wires to its matching wire. Be careful there are two black wires floating around there.

Best o luck,

Ryan

Actually due to Dodge's engineering at it's finest designed to save money and nothing else(almost like China and their cheap wheat gluten and other toxic human consumable goodies),what I did is bypass the A pillar harness plug completely. DON'T bother touching the factory A pillar harness. It's useless. They cheaped up on it and only put it in there instead of the other oneto save money. This was my problem too.

So for bchase, as I mentionedin my previous post... and I will try to be a bit more clearer:
I just plugged in the mirror harness to the LX harness that I bought from Ted. I ran that down the A pillar. There are three plugs on the other end of the LX harnessne of themgoes into the radio, the plug that did go into the radio now goes into the other plug, and the third pluggoes to the telematic unit.

If you have any more trouble, call Ted. His 1-800phone number is somewhere in this thread.
