Default First Time Dodge Buyers

Why did you buy a 2002-2006 Dodge Ram? I know most of us picked it because of a lot of factors, but choose the deciding one.

i went into the dealership not looking to buy anything, just to look. so after test driving the SRT-10 and the quad hemi, i left a owner of a 04 ram with a hemi. Im an impulsive buyer, the same way i ended up with my jetski.

Thats exactly what I did. At the time I had an 04 F150 which was being purchased back by Ford - a COMPLETE LEMON. I went in just looking, but after driving it, I had to get her. I didn't really like the 2nd generation looks of the Ram. But the 3rd Generation had better lines, 4 doors, and the Hemi.

As a long-time Ford truck guy, when my second Lightning was due for replacement (needed a 4 door) I assumed I would just get a new F150.

But they made the new thing so heavy it's a DOG! And since there is no performance option any more, I couldn't stand it.

From a Ford guy's point of view, GM wasn't ever an option, but Dodge was more of a lateral move...the world wouldn't end or anything and hey, the dealer had a pretty good deal on a left-over '05 so what the heck - I've got my fist Dodge truck now. If everything goes great, maybe I'll convert.

I have wanted a HEMI all my life, so that was the deciding factor. Not the same as the older ones but, I doubt DC would want to ruin the name. Hence felt it would be a superior product. I have always been a Dodge fan. Learned to drive in an early 60s New Yorker. Lots of power and 6 miles to the gallon. Had a 78 Dodge Tradesman 100 custom van with a 318 automatic. Put over 400k on it. I bought that one used. This truck is the first brand new vehicle I have ever bought.

I've had 6 GM's. My last one was a 2000. I had a natural gas kit put on it with the intension of driving it to 500k. It made it to 200k km's. Many many problems and GM won't improve there product. The trany cost me $2600 alone. The dash looked like a christmas tree with all the lights on --- Enouph with GM -- too bad -- nice truck to drive. That left me with Ford, Dodge, Toyota or Nissan. Toyota won't pull my 7000lb boat, Nissan too much $$$ and ugly. The Ford and the Dodge were left. The Dodge looks good, nice size cab and best of all "towing HP" for the same money and similar fuel milage to the Ford. So I bought my very first Dodge. Now I realy hope this truck will have better reliability than the GM.

I would not have bought mine if it were not for the incredible rebates I got (about $11,000). I've liked the looks of the body changes but I had always heard bad about them plus I had one many years ago and it was gutless and the fact I was a Chevy person didn't help - until the latest problem with the "acceptable" piston slap that is. Was crazy about my 03 Avalanche but it was time to change out and I did not like the fact that Chevy stopped putting body cladding on them. Was about to go get a Toyota then my buddy - who hated Dodge as well - got one and fell in love with it so I took the plunge. Been happy with it every since.

I worked at the dealership and I got a good deal. I was originally going to go with Ford as that is all my family and my wife's family buys, but with the power and price difference, it was a no brainer.
