OK- here it goes. I get home and my wife tells me that she cant unlock the truck doors with the keyless entry- aftermarket by the way. So i go and check it out and she was right. So i have to unlock it manually. No big deal, but then i hop inside and i see that the STOCK security light which isnt hooked to the aftermarket alarm system, is constantly lit solid red. Weird. So i start the truck and for some reason the headlights and tail lights automatically come on and i cant turn them off. And on top of everything else the dash doesnt light up. Someone please help me.

 

Its the by-pass modual. Those things fry out like ****in mad. Same w/ my truck, I have a remote starter with a bypass on the truck. It now wont start, it keeps auto enabling the alarm and shutting off the truck, and locking me out. It also makes the stock security light light up. My best guess would be that, I have to get mine fixed soon. It wont even start half the time, I have to press the remote start button, and hit the brakes before it starts to lock the remote starter out, then it will work fine.

 

alright. so does that have to do with my remote start or is it a truck problem. sorry i dont know much about trucks. where do i bring it to get it fixed in other words?

 

Its a problem with your remote starter/aftermarket keyless entry. It has nothing to do with the truck itself. Basically, because the truck needs a computer key to start, they have to put a bypass, which lets the vehicle start without it, apparently these things dont last very long, since Ive talked to quite a few people who have had this problem. I'm just going to get my remote starter ripped it, its being more of a pain in the *** than it is a convience. You would have to take it to a place that installs remote starters/alarms, and get them to test/change the modual. I guess the old saying "if it aint broke, dont fix it" applies here, it is 100% aftermarket's fault and has nothing to do with Chrysler.

No problem man. Tell me what they say. I went through HELL to figure out wtf was wrong with my truck, because first it was just when I tried to use the remote starter it wouldnt work..then it got to the point of, even WITHOUT using the remote starter the truck wouldnt start.

 

Well, i took my truck to best buy and they said that my truck doesnt have a bypass module. Only dodges with a gray key have that. Mine is black. So they tried to do some trouble shooting and couldnt find anything wrong with the remote start/keyless system. My next guess is just a truck problem. i am going to bring it in on monday to the shop and see if they can find the problem. wish me luck.

 

That sucks dude, on the contrary, I got mine taken out today and the bypass modual was FRIED. So now my truck is awesome again =D
