My Ram is an 02 with the 5.9. When I set my cruise control at highway speeds every so often the engine surges a couple hundred rpms. It is just a quick surge then it goes back to normal. The wierd thing is that the speed isn't changing, just the rpms. Almost like it is trying to down shift for a quick second. The first time it happened I was towing a camper and I figured it was just trying to correct itself alot because of the load. Anyone out there ever had this issue with your cruise control?

 

i think it is engine breaking (downshifting to use the engine to help slow down the truck), i know my 06 dakota does this all the time going down hills.
