Does Ford really expect us to buy this?

It is funny how Ford talks about the "strength" of their truck against Chevy, Toyota, and Nissan, but when it comes to Dodge, there are very few, if any, counter arguments. They say their truck is better than a Ram because of their rear shocks mounted on the outside, and the size of the bolts holding the bed to the frame, etc. Please.
Its funny how they do not talk about the 5.4L Triton. The Hemi and Titan both dwarf it. The F150 is heavy and slow, with an empty bed or when towing.
Maybe I am biased, but I bought an 04 F150 when it came out because I believed all the hype. It had the FX4 Offroading Package, etc. Well, it lasted about 9,000 miles. The engine would randomly shut off and I was towed to the dealer 4 times. They never could fix the problem. Lemon law time! So, I went out and bought an 04 Ram. 27,000 miles later, the only time I've been to the dealer is for oil changes. And nothing gives me more satisfaction than watching an F150 try to play "catch up" to my Hemi.

Have you seen fords new commercial for the F150's. They smash it together from the front and rear with (what I would call) a giant beer can smasher. The truck frame just snaps between the cab and bed. They call it a new saftey feature. I don't know what the Ford guys are thinking but if i hit something, I want to be able to drive away from it and not have my truck snap like a stick.

It's all about energy absorption, if the frame absorbs the energy of a collision, your spine will not.
We have both and 04 F-150 (small v8) and an 05 Ram (hemi), so here's my take:
Ride quality- Ford has more control through bumpy corners and quieter interior.
Power - Bad comparison with our two, so comparing it to relative's FX4 - Seems like Hemi much faster, but FX4 more torque (not sure on the stats guys, just by feel)
Towing - (23 ft snowmobile trailer with sleds or with 1500# tractor inside) - Ram a little better than Ford - mainly talking about balanced control on hwy. As far as acceleration, see above. Ford has shifting problem when going over hills on hwy - it won't downshift correctly and then when you're over the hill it won't shift back unless you completely take your foot off the gas.
Interior - Both need to correct speaker vibration issues with plastic door grills. Ram has better storage. Ram needs automatic headlights. Never checked it when we bought it - just expected the Laramie would have it. Pain in the a$$ after all our other vehicles had them. Ram's steering wheel mounted controls need to light up like Ford's so you can see which button you're pressing at night. Controls on the back of the wheel are addictive - miss them when I drive the Ford.
Body - see my other post (rusty ram w/ 10k) - Ram is doing very poorly in the corrosion department. Ford wins there by a mile.
Broken so far: Ford (66k)- front crash sensor went bad, headlight plastic cracked (unrelated)
Broken so far: Dodge (10k)- wipers (still not working properly), 7-pin wiring harness
Oddities: Ford - when in 4wd, sounds like something is rubbing in transfer case - dealer says that's just the way it is.
Oddities: Dodge - stalls in warm weather, brakes make rubbing noise when reversing after setting a while, dual exhaust drone between 2000 and 2300 rpm.
Well, there it is - as seen in the driveway.

I noticed in my FX4 it had more torque in the lower RPMS than my Dodge. Overall, the Hemi is rated at 375 and the 5.4 at 365. Its just a matter of when you hit peak torque in the RPM range. The Ford had a better ride and I liked the interior better than my Dodge. Other than that, the Dodge has it beat for style, performance, reliability (in my case), and overall experience. I love how my truck feels like a truck, looks like a truck, and drives like one. Ford is throwing the F150 style interior in EVERYTHING.
I don't really have anything against Ford, I just had a bad experience with one and won't go back. Its the imports I don't like [:@]

I have a 06 TRX4. I replaced an o4 1500. This 06 rides better and has way less cab noise compared to the 04. I was looking at an 05 then drove the 06. It was worth the extra money.
I hate the whole idea of MDS. More parts = more problems IMHO. If I pay for a Hemi, I want to know I have 8 cyclinders at all times hahaha.

I test drove the F150 before I bought the RAM. Being a Ford guy I had every intention of buying the F150 but I always check around. The F150 handled like a boat but since it was the first full size truck that I was purchasing I thought it was normal.
Then I test drove the RAM. I felt way more connected to the road and it handled much better. I liked the interior better as far as quality. Needless to say a couple days later I bought the RAM.

Oh and about that commercial where they squash the truck from both ends. If you look close at the fine print it says "Undercarriage has been digitally modified". Meaning they edited out all the crap that fell apart under there.
It is a stupid commercial anyway because a lot more damage occurs when you're hit at speed. Crushing it with bulldozers going at 5 mph doesn't show what would happen in a real crash.
