Default steering wheel locked up!?!?!

I was turning left at a intersection and about halfway through the turn the wheel locked up like it was parked... I have no idea why the hell it did that. I had to throw it in neutral and turn it off and on again then it started working normal. Has anyone expereinced this??? I'm confused.

No, I have never had that happen, but I have had it stall on me while turning at a light (only once though).

WHOA!!!!

Thats Freaky!!

These Column's have an Internal shaft steering wheel lock!!
They are Not suppose to lock till you turn the key to off!!

I would have that checked ASAP!!
Unless you accidently turned the ignition off while you were driving!

anything you can think of that it might be?? I just had long tubes installed last week and the only problem i'm getting from that is the check engine light coming on and the code P0420 (for the cat) i also took it to dodge the day before the wheel locked up for an oil change... this is very odd/confusing!!

Doubt it is the power steering pump.

I think your ignition cylinder is failing.... I bet you will be able to recreate the problem if you wiggle your key while turning in a circle (do this in a BIG parking lot at SLOW SPEED)

Otherwise it might be the actual shaft lock that has failed somehow, which is very uncommon but still possible as it is a mechanical lock.
