What is the best way to increase HP? I have a 2002 QC 4x4 1500 4.7L ram and I am looking to increase its performance. Is there any one product better then another? Would you recommend doing a number of things? Maybe a new air intake, dual exhaust and a new chip?

I have the 02 quad cab with the 5.9, although it has plenty of power you always want more. The simplest move to do to get more horsepower would be to take the truck and trade it in for the hemi, but if you are dead set on keeping yours like I am mine, then here are a few things I have done to my 5.9. First thing I did was take the single exhaust off and put dual flowmaster 40 series on, this made a little difference in power not enough to get excited about though. Headers will make a little difference also but I have yet to add the headers. I have installed the throttle body spacer, this did make a little difference also, both in take off and gas mileage, but again not enough to brag about. The chip would be a good move, if you are ready for the cost. I can tell you my next move is to put a dodge performace cam and intake on. I have the cam waiting on the money to do the intake. All in all pace yourself and do a little at a time unless you can afford to do it all at once. Be sure to do your homework on everything as you decide to install it and remember every little bit helps. If you are looking for a drastic improvement again you could always buy a new one with the hemi or just add a turbo charger to yours if it is available for the 4.7.

Thanks for the tips, my wife has an 05 Durango with a HEMI and yes it is loaded with power. However, I really do want to keep my truck and just start customizing it.

If money is no option, supercharge it. If you're looking to spend under 1K then go with a programmer and a Fastman TB. It won't be huge gains, but it will be some. Personally, I'd just leave it alone unless you absolutely have to have an extra 20 or so HP at mid and upper RPM's.

Spend the money on a NEW toy

In my opinion, trucks are ment to roll on 44" boggers, not to run a 10 second quarter mile. Bout if you must add some hp, do what the other guys said. Just remember, you are never going to be able to stay-up-with/ beat a firebird, camaro, or a SRT-10. But, it's your truck and money, so do whatever gets the girls to ride with ya.

Just trying to turn my bigger tires. Don't want to have to down shift just to go up a small hill.

Here is a list of mods I have done to my 2002 4.7L:

Fast Man PORTED HEAD's, Fast Man 212 cams, Fast Man 70mm TB, H/O Intake, =AIR=RAM=> Induction, =JET=STREAM=> Scoop, BG Chrysler custom flash, Gibson headers, 4:56 Gears, "Modified" ASP Pulley, 180 T-Stat, Fram HP-1, DENSO "IRIDIUM" PLUGS, MRK 8

Still trying to get it all tuned, at this time its only making 229RWHP with an Air Fuel ratio of 15.75:1... we should see an EASY 30+HP with the A/F Ratio down in the 12.5:1- 13:1 ball park.

SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM
