2005 RAM 1500 transmission question
I have a 2005 1500 hemi 4x4 with about 5000 miles on it. Over the past month or so I have noticed that it sometimes doesn't like to shift into reverse when the truck is cold in the morning. I drop it in reverse and it just sits there not engaged, however, if I put it back in park and then back into reverse it engages. I am about ready to take it back to the dealer to have it looked at, is anyone experiencing this type of issue on their Ram 1500?
I actually have the same issue on my 05 Ram 1500. It only has around 8k miles on it and it too does the same ****!
If you find out what it is, please by all means let me know!

I also have a 05 1500 4.7 4wd. My truck does the same thing and yesterday i started it and put it in drive it actually stalled out. After i restarted it, it was fine. My truck doesn't even have 1000 miles on it yet. It's definitely going back to the dealer. I'll let you know what it was soon.
Same here. Ram Daytona Reg Cab 4x4. Same **** in Drive AND reverse. Showed the Service Writer in person, but they said it could not be duplicated by the service tech. Bull****.
Yeah you know what mine stalled out as well when I went to drive once or twice.
I may have to leave my truck for the day there and pick it up the next day so they can see the issues with the cold start.
I am pretty sure they know. I am pretty sure we arent the first ones to mention this. I just think they are playing stupid!
Thank God, for 7 years | 70.000 miles warranty!

x2. I'm wondering if it's some sort of design flaw or maybe it's supposed to do that to be sure fluid gets into the tranny before going? All I do it let it sit for 30 seconds or so and everything is fine. It usually only does it when it hits 30 or 40 degrees...

I have an 06 hemi TRX4. I received a customer satisfaction notification a couple of months ago. Basically it stated that "you may experience a delayed gear engagement when shifting out of park if the truck sits for 12 hours or more". I never experienced the problem, but I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the auto trans cooler return filter per the notification. They said that some of the installed filters were faulty. I beleive it was customer satisfaction notification #E016. I don't know if this applies to the 05 models but you described the exact same problem.
