SilverStar lifetime
Has anyone here ever had a Sylvania SilverStar fail on them? I was going to go out and buy 4 of them today, but I read a post on here about how they only last for about a year, sometimes less. I will not drop $100 on bulbs that will only last about a year. Any body else ever hear anything of this?
THanks,

I've heard as low as 2 months and as long as 2 years. Personally, if you are looking at a DOT legal lightbulb that provides extra brightness, perhaps you can look into the GE Nighthawk bulbs. They are a little whiter and brighter but don't cast the bluish light the silerstars.
There are always other possibilities. I put in APC Xenon lights that are DOT legal and they are brighter than stock and light up the road fairly well. They were also on sale at Wally World and I picked them up for $20 total for the fogs and headlights.
Basically, if you go with the silverstars and they burn out within a year to Sylvania, return them with receipt and you get a new pair.

I had put silver star's on my 86' (high & low) and they have yet do go bad, and that was about four years ago. I going to get fogs and high/low for my ram as well. I am gonna get them at wal-mart because here in AZ they are priced at $31 a pair.
I spent $40 a pair for both fog lights and headlights and I love them. The have no blue tint to them. just nice and white. If you touch the bulb, it will shorten the life. They do not like the oil from our flesh. They should last a while
