Default Where is the Stock Amp? - Need to resolve Amp Issue!!

So I installed (2) 12's in the rear and rigged up my amp straight to a farad cap, and then to the battery (+). I also ran the REM wire from the radio to the amp!
As well ofcourse as a Ground Wire. Now the system sounded great with all my speakers and the (2) woofers. I pumped it up and drove around with no issues.

Then all of a sudden I stopped off to make a purchase at a store, and when I came out, turned on the truck I found only my two 12's where playing music. My radio worked but no sound is coming form my (4) door speakers. Is it possible that I blew out the stock amp, if it infact has one? I dont see how that could be possible since all the wires have been connected apprpiately. The aftermarket radio was installed with the appropiate harness.

Or maybe I screwed up something inside the radio output?? I checked all the wires and see now issues.
Would anyone have a suggestion or clue on what is wrong? This really sucks!!
I plan to install a indash TV and I seriously need to get theother speakers working.

ThanX!

I had the same issue. I had to bypass the amp and directly run it to the speakers.

Yeah it must be the amp then. Where is it located???

I swapped it out for a kenwood headunit that was sirius ready. MOnday im just gonna swap that out for a indash TV.
Basicly what I did was purchase the whole swap radio kit which included the antenna extension, the wiring harness, and the Metra Radio Holder kit (not the crappy IA one!)

The Metra kit is a really good one, that has one open slot for an aftermarket radio and a cd storage slot underneath that.

The Metra Kit holds the aftermarket radio inplace with (2) screws on each side. (Kinda like a PC CDROM or harddrive would be held into a PC case.)
Then the whole unit mounts in the dash area using the (4) stock bolts that originaly held the stock radio in place. (How Simple was that!)

I didn't have to use a metal radio sleeve with this kit at all... (Woohoo)

Truck is a 05 Ram 1500 QC SLT Hemi - Thunder Road Edition.

Now I am sure it has to be the amp....Now I must find out where the freak it is so I can just bypass it and replace it with another amp instead.

Well I guess I must not have the inifnity system since there is nothing there but some huge black plastic assembly (looks AC related) with some wires in and out of it.
Man this is gonna be a pain in the *** to find out. I may have to dis-assemble the whole dash area just to trace the wires to the amp!

I can't believe if you don't have an amp for the regular, how all four speakers are not working - makes no sense - i'd recommend hooking the factory hu back up and testing your speakers

hehe if you have the premium system its gonna suck. Boyd just did his and i just did mine yesterday, losts of fun! your better off just rewiring the speakers, and saying f*ck the amp. Its really just to big of a pain in the *** to get to and you cant hook that amp to your head unit. Its turned on by a PCI bus wire. i tryed everything to get mine to work with no luck. If your going to just add a amp, you are also better off to rewire. the stock wires are no where near anyspace to mount a amp.

P.S. THe infinity speakers sound like sh*t if you hook them to your HU. There 8ohm and your HU is most likely 2ohm. Ive got this problem in my truck, it sucks. Im to poor atm to get new speakers. Damn job.

Well guess there is no need to mess with the stock amp. I found out my issue. (I dont have the premium system!)

It seems the wires for the rear door componant speaker in the right passenger side, got caught up in the window motor.
This in turn crunched the wires and it wouldn't work due to both the + and - of that speaker touching. I had to end up going throiugh all my wiring in all my doors and underneath all the panels to figure it out. I even dis-assembled most of the dash and double checked the after market radio wiring and the satellite tuner wiring. I even took the time to install a farad cap due to the system pulling so much power.

In regards to the amp, I didnt find one under the glovebox, so I cant find it. But I guess it makes no difference because all the speakers now work as well as my (2) 12's in the rear. I didnt have to bypass the amp. It works flawlessly!

I already changed all the speakers in my truck the first day I bought it. But I'll probaly swap those out for something better.
