Which is it? 5 1/4" or 6 1/2". I am planning on buying some new speakers for my 05 Quad cab and installing this weekend but every site I go has a different size. I am hoping that they are 6 1/2" but I dont want the hassle of a return if they dont fit. Can anybody clerify exactly what size fits?

 

I installed some 6.5 companants and tweeters in the rear doors.

 

Any modifications required? Did you have to ream out the hole or re-drill mounting holes?

 

I dont recall! - I think worse case scenerio you may have to run some self tacking screws.
But there was no reaming!

 

6.5 will fit , you must drill new mounting holes for screws only. just did it yesterday.

 

I just made the holes a little bigger for my kenwood 6.5's. I found what fitted on crutchfield and then ordered cheaper from ebay. But only crutchfield had the right connectors for plug and play so it ended up being a wash. 6x9 fit with no problem up front.

 

You dont actually have to drill new mounting holes. Its easier just to get some metal self tapping screws and run them where you want.
It's quicker than drilling and the screwing a screw in.
