Resetting the PCM 05 hemi
Ok i found instructions on how to do this and i did it...i pulled fuse #23, the PCM fuse, turned the key to on (not start, just on) and waited for it to stop dinging at me...put it back in and went for a drive...i felt no difference at all...in fact if anything it seemed to not have as much get-up-and-go...does it take a few miles to get it to realize ur "new" driving style or what?...any information on this issue from PEOPLE WHO HAVE ACTUALLY DONE THIS will be appreciated, Thanks, ya boy, Michael-
ok...scratch that first post...what you need to do if you have not ever reset the PCM...is to pull the fuse (#24 in the relay) and then turn the key to on, but dont start it, drive around for about a mile, kill the engine, and let it rest for 30 minutes (i dunno if all of these little steps are necssary) but the 2nd time i took it out it felt a lot better...it kinda makes it seem like the shift points are tighter and it accelerates a bit quicker...it's very much worth doing...because it seems to help it since it resets it and has to relearn the way you drive; plus it's free!!! DO IT, DO IT.
well i have never driven any vehicle without starting it...what you do is have the ignition off...pull the fuse...turn the key to acc. (do not try to start it) it will ding at you, wait for it to stop...then replace the fuse...then start it, sorry for the confusion...
It's totally safe unless you're a clutz and drop the fuse and then scramble to find it and step on it and crush it... :P
Not that that's happened to me or anything.
