Why do you need a fuel cell unless you are doing some hard-core off-roading and/ or racing.

i going with air ride and im wanting to tank up out of the way and one of my rear bars might be ran where my tank is right now. so i am thinking of putting the fuel cell where the spare tire is and in the bed sorta mounted flush in the bed and a little under it if that makes ne since.

I have a 16 gal aluminum fuel cell from RCI in the bed of my '55 Chevy stepside. It came with a 0-90ohm fuel level sending unit, but I'm not sure what Dodge uses as their standard input for the fuel display.

Sure, if you can match up the sending unit to the gauge, it should work.

I am thinking Dodge uses a 8-12ohm (full) to 73ohm (empty) sender. But don't hold me to that.

reference this: autometer fuel gauge

I have two friends with cells in their cars and they just ran another gauge, but they also had a few other gauges for boost and egt so it wasnt out of place to have one random gauge. Im no electrician but is it possible to convert the ohms using a capacitor or resistor.

i work at a gm dealership and i was talkin to the techs and they knew about nothing at all. so my next stop is picking race shops brains. only thing is most shops like that here are all about carbed classics and nothing new what so ever. right now i am thinking this fuel gauge is going to be one of the most tricky parts of air bagging a dodge ram. the info this far has been helpful thanks guys

You are going to have 2 distict issues -- one being finding a fuel cell with an in-tank pump that pushes out the right fuel pressue, the other (should be much easier) will be finding a fuel level sender that matches the Dodge standard.

Thats why they make fuel pressure regulators, just get simple cell and an external pump thats got enough power to be a primary pump. Doubtful you will find a sending unit that matches.
