Gas mileage with tonneau top
I just ordered my tonneau top from my local Leer dealer. On the counter was a little brochure that stated that tonneau tops cut down on drag and increase gas mileage. Anyone know this for a fact? I'm like everybody else out there in that I, too, would like to save a few bucks at the pump. But, I have never heard of such a thing in this case. Anyone know the full scoop?
I have owned a tonneau on every truck I have ever owned. That was the first thing I put on my new 05 RAM QC. They give the truck a nice look as well as keep the bed dry for carrying groceries. Don't want any stinkin milk spilling inside the cab. Coupled with a performance exhaust and a good Free Flowing air filter system like a Cold Air Intake, I think a few extra MPG can be squeezed out but I would not ask for too much. These Ram trucks are Hogs and drink Gas like I drink Beer. That's alot. So good luck. [sm=gears.gif]
Honestly I did not notice ANY fuel economey gain what so ever with my cover.... but it looks great though. I like it for the fact that it locks... and I can store stuff in the back of my truck... but for performance I have not been able to measure the gains because they ate too small to measure... if they are there at all.

I thought it sounded too good to be true. Honestly, I just want the top to protect my stuff and get a nice clean look to my truck. But, seeing that brochure I had to ask y'all. How much did y'all pay for your tops?
