Need a bit more bottom end..
First off I have a 2005 ram with the 4.7 motor.. I have a si/so flowmaster and a K&n filter... Im looking to get a little more on the bottom end. Just want to be able to floor the gas and make a little smoke.. I kow it sounds dumb, but sometimes little things make me happy.. Thanks for the help..
Need more info. Is it a 4x4, what is the differential gear ratio, etc. etc. Probably the easiest way is to put taller rear gears in. More torque on the bottom end, but also revs higher on top. It all depends on what you have and what you're looking to do. What is the piping dimension of the exhaust? If its too big, like 3" duals, you may have sacrificed bottom end torque for quicker rev curve on the top end
Get rid of the k&n filter. My 04 4.7 had the same set up, a K&n drop in filter and a flowmaster 50 muffler. It allways felt like it wasn't as strong on the bottom end with the k&n. Also, after your truck gets about 15k miles it will feel alittle stronger.
I checked my throttle body and idle air control valve after about 10K miles of running the k&n filter and they were pretty gummed up. I checked them the other day after about 13K miles of the stock filter and they looked new. That stock gilter is rated for enough flow all the way up to the base v10 if you'll look at the part # it's the same from the 3.9 v6 up to the 5.7 hemi and I think the old v10.
These aftermarket filters on a street driven stock truck are a waste of money and the DO NOT filter as well. They are a RIP OFF! You may gain a couple of horsepower at the top of the rpm range but you won't feel it and it comes with the price of more dust in your intake and engine.

Well it is a 4x4 with 3.92 rear end. The exhaust is all stock except for the muffler, which is a flowmaster 40. As far as pipe diameter I am not sure. I will try removing the k&n and see if that helps.. Thanks for the help..

Maybe you might like to get some headers with a high flow cat, not cheap but should get a little HP and Torque. I would also look into a super chips programmer, you can get a little more HP and Torque, though it will progam you engine to 91 octane it will at least burn cleaner. Think of the environment man! just kidding...rev on.
I thought about a programmer, but cant seem to find one for my truck.. 2005 4x4 with 4.7.. I want the option or removing the program and returning to stock also.. I think superchips does that right..?? If anyone can lead me in the right direction that would be great.. Thanks...

Make the 4.56's your FIRST mod and you will NEVER regret it. You will get better fuel economey and much better off the line GRUNT... just what your looking for. Then I would get a good cold air induction system, electric fan + ASP underdrive pulley... if thats not enough then you should loook into the PROGRAMER and possible 206 cams. Take a look at my mod list and you will get a good idea of whats available...
With the H/O cams I was making enough power to run 9.91 in the 1/8 mile... Quad cab HEMIs run in the ball park of 10.2 - 10.4 so my QC 4.7L was running quick with the H/O cams... And I would not recomend them at all... If I where to do it all over again I would go right to the 206 cams or even the 212 cams... Right now I have the 212 cams and Im still trying to get the tune right... but when its all said and done I should be running LOW 9.0x to a HIGH 8.9x .... Not bad for a 4.7L...
Ohh yeahhh I can also STILL drag down an average of 18-20MPG when I want too...
SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM

Dust? did you not install it right? There is no reason for there to be any dust going past your filter, ever. Did you put too much filter oil on it? If you did then hell yeah you gummed up your intake, it's not supposed to be dripping when you install it. and there is no way that you are going to tell me that the stock paper filter outflows a cone cotton filter. Unless the laws of physics cease to apply to your truck you have either been mislead or are sadly mistaken.
BTW go with the 4.56's you'll feel it in the seat of your pants
