Drive it and give it 10,000 miles then come tell us what the mileage is.

Ohh yeahh... I have been driving the same 3rd Gen ram since the day they came out... I was one of the first kids on the block with one... I have tried EVERYTHING and have learned what it takes to squeeze as much feul economey as possible. You may be happy with 13-14MPG but Im here to tell you that 20MPG is possible if you really want it... that means you will get almost 6-7 miles further gallon x 20 is 60-70 miles a tank. Divide that up by your average MPG and thats approximately 3-4 gallons of gas x 2.50 = 7.50-10.00 on each fill up. So you would save more than you think just by driving with more skill!

It adds up...

You have to add horses! Lots of horses! I mean the hay-burner kind. Hitch up and pull your ram. Otherwise, you won't find much help.

I have an 03 4x4 qc with the hemi, I just got the best mileage I've ever had yesterday. Coming back down from Yosemite I got all of 12 mpg. That's downhill cruising at 75 with cruise control set and no a/c. going up I got all of 11.8

thanks cbrewster, point proven...i live in fort worth, tx...and even on 820 where it's 5 lanes, at 8 o'clock in the morning...all that "staying in this lane or that lane" doesnt work, because its constant stop-and-go traffic, and hey i gotta move over into another lane because this jackass didnt yield...not an option, and even if it were, it wouldnt help...& driving to where you NEVER go above 2,000 RPM...not possible either...its called accelerating to get onto the interstate/loop without getting creamed...is it even possible to drive to work on a highway and not exceed 2,000 RMP? I seriously seriously doubt that by taking all of that advice, id go from my current 14.6-15.5 mpg mark, to 20...5 more miles per gallon is not possible with driving habits alone...yes it helps, but not that much...all trucks are different, and i feel damn lucky to get 15mpg after reading what others post on here (10-12mpg constantly.) Maybe your truck has some kind of program from the factory that they decided to put ONLY on your truck? They said, "Hey, we will really make this one particular truck get 20+ mpg." But, I highly doubt it...in fact i have never seen anyone post better than about 18mpg....but 20? because of some MINOR driving habits (with the exclusion of the 2,000 RPM thing.) I don't know what else to say...oh and whilst I'm ranting..."and if you want even better fuel economey then toss in a set of 4.56's, electric fan & underdrive pulley... " how much does that cost again?

let's see a non-photoshopped picture of this digital read out for your 19+ mpg...& in the picture, somehow prove that it's your truck! that'd be outstanding...by the way, K&N is the best intake out there just to let you know

I just wish a mod would make one of the tri-weekly "my mpg sucks what can I do - bewhew" threads a sticky so people will stop posting them over and over and over and over and over and over and over........[:'(]

I guess the search button is broken.

Funny thing, when I bought my truck I actually READ THE STICKER that nicely said the gas mileage in this truck sucks so I wasn't surprised when my first tank got 14-16 mpg - but then maybe that's just me.

EDIT: Oh wait, they did (LOL)

I love all these "How can I improve my MPG because I can't afford the truck payment and gas" posts. What's even better is when a person with a 4.7 with numerous mods is trying to tell a new owner with a HEMI how to save gas. Look folks, do like stump_breaker and any other informed consumer does, READ THE [sm=smiley35.gif] STICKER!!! Driving habits do make a difference, but a 7+ mpg increase? AIR RAm, if your near Joliet, IL leave me a post and we'll see if you can get my Ram to get 20 MPG with my route to work. My driving habits would be considered "granny" by most people. It's not because I'm trying to save gas, it's because there are so many [sm=smiley35.gif] idiots driving I want to protect my truck. Here are the best results with my 06 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4x4 HEMI with 3.92 gears, Tow Package, Big Horn edition with 20" wheels and the 34 gallon tank.

Date: 1/28/06
Fuel type : Mobil, 89 octane
Gallons: 30.473
$ per gallon: $2.399
Total $ : $73.10
Mileage : 433.5
Calculated MPG : 14.23
Overhead reading: 16.2
Engine run time: 12 hours 11 minutes
Average mph: 35.58
Average gallon per hour: 2.47
Total mileage of Ram: 2230.7

Any questions?[sm=rant.gif]
