Nope...HEHEHE, I went on a bad night, like 40 million, give or take a few, cars there and the wife didn't want to hang around too long, so I went for the gusto...

I will probably next weekend or so...I will bring the camera, with a GOOD battery this time.

Did you make any runs without nitrous?

You can't use the other intake, besides HotRod tested them on a crate motor, winding it to like 7800RPM, and the Stock truck plenum produced the MOST power, go figure. The accessories on the truck motor are different and the front cover.

CAM WAS A BREEZE!!!! I was nervouse since I have only done "typical" pushrod 8's in the past...First time at the hemi (with good tools) I was pulling the truck out of the garage in under 3 hours. Probably do it in 2 nextime! Easy, easy.

Very impressive!!! I'd also like to hear more about the 6.1 parts on your truck. I know that the intake are different from 5.7 to 6.1, but didn't know what other helpful parts could be swapped. How was the cam install?

What is different about the 6.1 cams that produce more power in the 5.7? I would have thought that using cams from a different engine wouldn't work? What kind of performance increase are you supposed to get?

The 6.1 cam has mor valve lift and duration than the 5.7, since the 6.1 is engineered for performance. It is also billet steel which is stronger and better suited for higher RPMs. THe 5.7 and 6.1 are based off the same block with few differences. It is the same as using a 360 cam in a 318 (those are the same cam, but this is for comparison's sake). The Hemi heads can flow stupid amounts of air, that is why they respond well to anything that promotes airflow.
I haven't dyno'd mine ever, so I have no baseline; howver, other people out here say roughly 20rwhp. I believe it too... CHEAP horsepower, I paid 80 bucks for the cam and there are NO GASKETS needed to replace the cam.

More on the electronics end of your installs... First, with the new TB, did the dealer just reflash the PCM? Or was there something special about it? 3 hours for a cam install? Very Nice! I am looking into Comp Cams for my cam install. They had something like 60 additional HP with the biggest of the 3 cams? I'm waiting for more guys to change cams in their trucks. Mine only has 13,000 miles and I'm not ready to void that 70,000 mile... just yet, hehehe.

NOSFED345,

Where did you get the Billet 6.1 cam for that price??

Secondly, there are different 6.1 cams I have seen. Different power gains, I believe I was looking at Comp Cams. Obviously yours isnt a comp cam, the one you purchased, which one of the comp cams is equivalent to what you have?

I dont know a lot about a cam, but I think it will probably be my next performance mod. Where to buy it, best price, and which one????????

Lastly, I will not attempt to put it in myself, how much would it cost to have it installed??

Dont you need different springs if you change Cams????

There is an option in the DRBIII from the dealership---when scanned after the install it popped up to recal the tbody. There was an option to enter the part num or recal manually, thats what i did. I have 11k mi on mine, you cant hear the cam, except that it thumps harder at idle, no lope at all.

Dealership, Ruston Chrysler, in Ruston, LA for the cam, he said p/n changes and price went up, but very slightly.

My cam is very similar to the small comp cam.

You need to be CERTAIN that whatever cam you get has enough MAP signal to run with the stock computer unless you get the computer programmed to run with the low MAP. You need to ask yourself if you want to sacrifice driveability with speed, also know that when you get a HUGE cam with a 7500RPM , you WILL need a big stall convertor to make it run well because torque is moved up in the RPMs. Not to mention the massive lope of a big cam is way cool, but annoying when you drive alot like me.

Man if you were near me, I'd charge $150, but you can expect a shop to charge by the book @$60/hr..so you can expect to pay 300-500 big ones.

YES, change the springs if you get ANYTHING bigger than the small Comp/KRC/6.1 cam.
