26 gallon tank to 34 gallon?
So obviously they fit, with the 1500's having the same frame truck to truck, but what else would you need to install them? Would the PCM recognize the change? Are the sending units different? Or are the tanks just longer, and not deeper? I have been thinking about this becuase I originally wanted the larger tank, but couldn't find a truck last June with it and all the other options I wanted.... Any input on this? I'm taking my truck into the dealer Friday for some head liner issues (around the sunroof trim), and I might search around on their parts computer for this fuel tank idea.
I believe someone around here has already done this, but required getting a new sending unit and flashing the computer for an accurate read with the 34 gallon tank. I have the 34 gallon tank and at a blistering 12.5-13.5 in my almost 100% city driving, I couldn't imagine having the 26 gallon tank. Yeah, sure 8 gallons, whoopeeee, but seriously it does allow me to go another week without filling up, which I reallylike. It just hurts more to fill it up
Do a search as this topic popped up a while ago and has a little more info like part numbers and such.

The 1500 frame and the 2500 frames are not exactly the same,
with the 2500 frame slightly deeper.
What you are looking for is the 34 gallon gasoline tank
similar to those installed in V10 2500 Quad Cab or Club Cab
shortbed trucks.
The 36 gallon gasoline tank like that installed in long bed 2500 series Rams will not fit.
I have read at least one post from a 2nd gen Ram owner who claimed that he
ordered the 34 gallon gasoline tank new for about $290 from his local dealer
and had the dealer install it in place of his 26 gallon tank.

with the 2500 frame slightly deeper.

I have a Laramie with all the bells and whistles, options, etc. and I would appreciate hearing what the dealer does for you regarding your headliner issues. My headliner edge shows on the front side near the sunroof trim ring. It may not be bad or even noticeable but it should NOT be something we have to fix ourselves.
