Beafing up for a load on an '04 1500
I was wondering if anyone could suggest the best way to reduce the sag on the rear of my 1500 with a load.
Could anyone comment on the effectiveness of helper springs or air bag suspension products. Are these the best route or are there other suggestions. Is there an air shock that could provide the best solution. I like the ride I am getting now, and would not want to make it stiffer when empty.
Also, I do not necessarily want the truck any taller when empty either. I am just looking for way to keep it a little higher in back end when I am hauling a load.
Thanks.

i am looking into getting the Rancho RS9000 RCX shocks with the In-Cab Remote Control which can adjust damping without leaving the cab. I got to use them on a friends truck the other day and it was very cool. It hepled the back of the truck alot! Just something to look into if you like.

Sounds like what your looking for is a "load leveling" system. I don't have one of these, but have seen many trucks with them. I believe there are some that are automatic (if not most or all of them). So when you load the vehicle, it adjusts the air pressure inside the bags to keep the vehicle level. I've seen some of these that are pretty reasonable. I'd do a google search and see what ya find. These systems do not replace yor shocks or your leaf springs. Although it might not be a bad idea to add some nice aftermarket shocks. One last note, you mentioned the possibility of helper springs. Personally, on a 1500 Ram I would recommend them, only because you don't want your 1500 riding like a 2500 or 3500. At least with the air bag system, its only adjusts when needed. Unless of course, you load your truck quite frequently.
