Being that, IMO , Flowmasters are too loud by themselves. Has anyone tried just switching the OEM muffler with a Flowmaster and leaving on the resonator. Does anyone think this will tone down the drone? I want a good rumble when I step on the pedal, but I don't want to be extremly loud while just cruising around. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Well, if you do not like loud stay away from flowmaster. Get magnaflow or borla, they give a decent rumble with little drone in the cab. Or you can insulate the cab with hush mat and get what ever exhaust you want.

Many also swear by Magnaflow while leaving the resonator on. Do a search and you'll find so many exhaust threads it will make your head spin!!

I had the same dilemma, but I liked Flowmaster. Called up my local muffler shop, and he said come down and we'll take a look. He said go with the 40 Series from flowmaster. Not the Super 40, as they tend to be a little louder. Got the 40 installed with the stock resonator. At idle, it isn't much louder then stock. Cruising, its got a little drone, but nothing bad at all. At WOT, it has a nice agressive tone. I did set off one car alarm pulling away like a normal person, but I think that was freak.

I dropped off about 8 feet of exhaust, from the tip of the tailpipe, all the way back to underneath the passenger seat... At the Y-connect for the headers, threw on a straight Glasspacks... I love it. Interior resonance doesn't bother me... And everywhere I drive I pretty much do 1500rpms... It's only 2000+ that there's a drone... And I absolutely love the sound when I walk on it...

not to hi-jack the thread or anything, it actually goes along with what muffler to get, but....What size inlets and outlets would directly replace the stock muffler on a hemi?
