06 Hemi gas mileage question
Since I am considering a new 06 Dodge Ram 1500, I would like to hear from owners of the 2006 model with the Multi Displacement Hemi as to your gas mileage figures and which gear ratio your truck has. Your comments are appreciated. Thanks
I have a 2006 with MD engine.
According to the on-board computer I get in the low 16's in town, on on my commutes (55 - 65 MPH for 50 miles) I get up to 17.2 MPG.
I have not gotten it above 17.2, but I have not gotten out on the interstate and driven for hours to see if I can tweak it up.
The on-board computer uses an average, not a precise flow meter so you have to have some time on the road for it to catch up.
I have not bothered to figure the milage myself to see if the on-board computer is accurate.
The best speed appears to be 55-60 MPH, and I accelerate gently.

Thanks for the replys, that is still better than the 12 I get from my '02 with 5.9. Are ya'lls trucks 4X4 or two wheel drives? I see that a few on these forums don't consider feul mileage as an important issue but my gas bill now is nearly $9,000.00 per year and I have to cut it down some.
'06 MDS with 3.92 ratio on a 4x4 quad cab truck, 5600 miles on it. I will get almost 20 or a tad over 20 on a flat stretch of highway going 62ish. Most of my driving, however, is not that great for milage (as I assume yours isn't either). This past weekend I took her up North in MN and got way worse (15s on the highway), I'm gonna hope that's due to the cold weather. I average 13s in the city and mid 17s on the highway.

19-20 with 06 Laramie about 420-450 per tank, wife does mostly hwy speed to and from work. As noted elsewhere a steady throttle and/or cruise control will allow the MD to work well.
Thanks for the replys. For some reason my "02 Ram got the best gas mileage today that it has gotten since I bought it new. It now has 163,000 miles on it. I got an average of 15 running mostly 60 on the highway. Maybe it was afraid it was going to get traded off..
