Het all heres my problem i have an 04 Ram QC 4X4 4.7L and when i get out of the truck and close the door i get shocked and not a little one but a pretty good zap it seems to have gotten worse and worse i used to have a GMC that did the same thing and someone told me it may be a bad body ground does anyone else have this problem with your truck[sm=bomb.gif]

 

This is my 6th vehicle and the first one to do this. From day 1 of getting it home I got shocked, it doesnt seem to do it on the colder days. I dont know if its because of the cloth seats or not, all my other vehicles were leather. Thats the only thing I can come up with. Sometimes I really dont want to close the door because I know I'm gonna get shocked.

 

It is due to the electrons you pick up in the air as you drive down the road. Then you ground the vehicle and ZAP, you get a nice shock. It is perfectly normal. I'd also venture to say that is is colder and you haven't had much rain lately.

You can also put some socks on, scrub your feet as you walk across the carpet and touch a wall switch, ZAP, there is goes again. If you or somebody has long, thin hair you can take a rubber balloon and rub it on thier head and the hair will cling to it as you lift if from thier head. It is all static electricity, nothing to worry about.

 

I've seen video of people going back into their car while fueling...when they come back and touch the gas door or something metal, it flames up.
Try holding a metal part of the door as your feet touch the ground...that may work.
Or as some of you older people can remember, people used to use those grounding straps on their cars...remember those?

 

I had an 04 with cloth seats that was very bad. My 06 has leather, no problems with shock yet.

 

I had a problem with this too getting pretty bad. I asked around and they suggested armor-alling the interior again, all the plastic stuff. Since then I haven't had any problems, except when it was time to re-armor it. Hope this helps.

 

you could always drive naked, this helps. You could get a grounding strap that will dissipate excess static electricity when it comes in contact with the road.
