Dash removal and sub install
Greetings!
I just got myself my first ram and I'm looking to install some subs. I have a couple questions before I go tearing anything apart. I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500, regular cab, short box.
First off, I was wondering if there is a factory amp with the Infinity sound system, and if so, where is it? I was hoping to tap off a power source so that I would not have to find a way in through the firewall to my new amp.
My second question is, where do I start to disassemble the dash? I'm trying to get to the radio and I've looked all over, but I'm not seeing too many screws and I just don't know how to do it. I would appreciate any help or suggestions that are provided

Getting to the radio is simple, just take the screw out that is by the little hook in front of the passenger seat. Pull on the hook and the panel in front of the radio will pop right of with a little muscle. As far as the dash, I think I read a thread on here that said you would just have to push up with some muscle and it should pop off. Hope this helps a little.

I ran my power directly from the battery. I ran it through the rubber groment on the fire wall beside the brake booster. I went under the carpet to underneath my drivers side seat.
Like already mentioned, remove the screw near the hanger thing and I had a hidden screw on the left side, I had to remove the lower panel below the steering wheel before being able to pop off the trim around the radio. After that there are 4 screws holding the radio in. Are you keeping the stock radio? If not then you will be able to run your rca's and remote power for the amp from the aftermarket radio. If your using your stock radio, you will need an adapter to tap into a pair of speaker wires to add on rca preamp out. You will also need to find which wire is the keyon power for the radio, to tap into for your remote turn on for your sub amp. The main power for the amp should definitely come directly from the battery. Its not very hard, especially on a truck, to find a way through the firewall, theres usually at least one pre-existing grommet to go though thats empty or you can go through one thats alredy got some wires through it.
Hey hey...Thank you everyone for all the replies. I've been away for a couple days, so I haven't been able to get on read any updates. bmxox...thank you for all the info. I was hoping to keep the factory radio, but I didn't know how to hook up for the remote wire...and now I do.
Hunt the dragon, thanks for letting me know about the amp. I was assuming there was one, but I didn't know where to find it. If I had found it, I was going to tap off of that for my other amp. I believe I don't have to now, though, I am glad that I know where the amp is now. Thank you very much.
