Personal opinion and all, but I dont like the 'dakota' front end on the 06 Ram. Maybe in time it will grow on me. Who knows. I do know that I hated the 02 when it first came out. I have owned 4 of the 94-01 style 1500s and I still prefer them to my 05.

The best dodge, modern era, is the 95 1500 4x4 SLT(When they all were Laramies) with a 5.9.

Live axle that rode 'good', not like my car like riding 4x4 I own now. I like my 05 a lot. I like the 95 because it was easy to work on, plenty of room and it was comfortable. I still like the 94-01 style, which was way ahead of its time when it came out, especially for styling changes.

Maybe the 06 will grow on me.

The 06 4x4 is IFS on all models except the MegaCab - correct? I saw in a earlier post that someone said the 'live axle suspension of the 06 rode better than the 05 IFS'. As fars as I know the 06 is IFS, unless in a megacab. But to say a live axle rides better than IFS is retarded.

I prefer a live axle in a 4x4 over an IFS front end, but not cause it rides better. LOL.

Man you guys are too much!
Relax already. Its all good. Its all personal opinion!
I own an 05' 4X4 with a HEMI, and think its the greatest.
I am getting used to the new look of the 06's , its really not
that different, the grill takes a bit of getting used to, but its still
better looking than any other make out there. Personally i think the
newer Chevy's are BUTTT ugly. Fords are decent. The new Dodges
are much better looking than them all. You guys are splitting hairs here.
I havent driven one, so i cant say much about anything there, but still.
Its a sweet ride. PERIOD

I didnt read all of this but I feel I need to respond to the first post...
"Less leg room in the '06".... I don't think so, especially since the cab dimensions are all the same...?????? You know the seat moves, right?

The grille, headlamps, interior design is all personal taste.

I like the new headlamps, the curved metal above the old style was a magnet for rock chips. If the old headlamps didnt break, neither will these, and there is no paint to chip there.

I am not a big fan of the new seats...I guess thats why I have a Katzkin leather kit on order for mine.

The woodtrim dash - Mine got painted to match the body color, and the '07 models will be satin silver instead of Maple.

I traded my 05 for an 06 Mega cab. The 05 was a nicer truck all the way around BUT, I needed to gain payload.

Specifically,

The grille, doesnt really bother me too much, they have been down sizing it since 04. Ive own 03, 05 and own 06. Ill get something after market.
Not sure what the heck they were thinking of with those head lights. Close up yeah it can look a bit ugly, but from head on its very similar.
I think that the interior is nice, yes the 05 was nicer.

The real disappointments are as follows:
The fact that the towing wiring was changed and that crappy Billings / Raccine cloth.

If what you are pulling requires, I think the numbers were, more then 2.5 to 3 amps, it could throw the totally integrated system module into an tizzy. What does that mean ? You could be pulling your 5k camper down the road with no running lights.
Ref interior cloth -- Just last night I accidentally left the back window cracked a bit in a rain storm. There is now a stain on the seat. I have others. Nothing I used, all the common car care products - kenmore et al.; in fact putting more water based products on it makes it worse -- will remove it. Prompting DC resulted in them telling me to contact the dealer and Im well aware that the dealer is going to go by whats in the owners manual. In fact, I am dropping the truck off tonight to have the front and rear seat recovered in vinyl.
I wasnt too receptive to the idea of the termination of the 7/70k program. In addition, I bought the 5/100k on all the trucks and found this last one went up quite a bit. When I asked why, I was told that the increase was due to the termination of that program. Huh ??? Bunch of bull there.
Also, all the typical problems are still evident. My seat is shifting around, the truck runs rough at times .... no stalls yet.

Overall - Im happy. The truck does what I bought it to do. Give the kids plenty of room in the back seat while on 12 hour trips to reach camping destination. Provides an additional 600 lbs of payload. Was the 05 a nicer truck. ... Yes.

Where else would I go ?? Ive experienced nightmares with Chevy and Ford. Suppose I should have looked at the Titan ... yuk ...

Figured I'd throw my 2 cents in

You know, I just thought of something ..... Not that I would, but would it be possible to find maybe a wreck 05 (or 2) and replace the 06 nose wiff the 05's ?

I like the look of the QC 06 Ram's but not the Regular cab 06's. The RC in my opinion look horriable. You may not like the interior but its much better then previous model's exspecially my 03 Ram. The ride is a bit smoother on the 06's but I don't care that much about the ride its a TRUCK not a cadillac.

I like the look of the reg cab, I bought one, a 2500 Ram SLT, I prefer the look of the pre 06 Ram head lights and grill over the 06, but I'm not looking at the grill and head lights when I'm driving down the road, the quad cab and mega cab's don't excite me in the looks department..

No matter what you like or dislike, it can be changed to suit your needs, as a previous Ford guy, all I can say abought Ford is nice dash board, ****ty truck...Dodge builds a awsome truck no matter what the grills or head lights look like, underneath its all the same in dodgeville..

Just out of curiosity. The guys with the older Rams say the '06 is slower. What are the 1/4 mile times for both trucks? I didn't like the '06 at first but I like mine more everyday.
