buying new tires
true but down here our entire highway system is under construction to make it part of I69 ... so DPS tends to be rather picky about that 4mph ... i don't want see a cop and be trying figure out in my head how fast i'm REALLY going
As far as I know, Police already allow for a 10% variable when they are clocking you... So if it's a 60MPH zone, they should not pull you over if you're doing anywhere between 54MPH-66MPH...

I routinely do 5mph over in the city and 8-10mph on the highway without any trouble (knock on wood). It is typically the cars that are really, really speeding (18+over) and the ones that are speeding in work zones/school zones that they like to pull over around here.Regardless, most programmers let you reprogram for gear changes and tire changes.

they dont usually but they can and in rare cases will for not much over the limit at all. esp north carolina state troopers. they dont usually cut much slack in this area. i got a ticket on I40 for doing 74 in a 70. maybe he had a bad day or something but he was nice enough 2 gimme a warning ticket instead of the real thing. i know.. i couldnt believe it and no one else could either. but especially in construction zones they dont cut much slack at all.
Yeah, I always obey speed limits in school zones, construction zones, etc. But on the open interstate without much traffic (why I typically drive at night) I really just set the cruise at 5 over and cruise down the road. Never had a problem (knock on more wood).
