For people with Superchips
I recently got one for my 5.7. When I was installing it, I selected the performance level, let it do its thing, and that was it. Have any of you guys played around with the settings to tweak the power or acceleration charecteristics? It works great as it is, but I was curious if you guys found any other settings that worked better.
Yeah I noticed a difference. I got mine for $375 from a local place. It made the biggest difference on the low end power. If you go to superchips.com, and look up your truck, you can see a dyno graph. The biggest HP and torque gains are at 3550 RPM's. However, with the Ford and Chevy's, their max gains are in the higher RPM ranges. I think this is important because as truck owners, we want more low end grunt. It is important to understand the difference between Max gains and Peak gains. The Peak gains are the improvement shown with Superchips, over stock, when looking at the top of the power band. It's not really that much (I think 9 HP and 12 ft/lbs of torque at 5500 RPM's). But the Max gain (or greatest improvement over stock) occur early in the power band (something like 17 HP and 23 ft/lbs torque @ 3550 RPMS). I RARELY, if ever, get my truck up to 5500 RPM's, so I wasn't concerned about Peak HP. I was looking for more low end power, so the Max power gain appealed to me. But looking at the dyno, you can see the greatest gains are in the mid level RPM's - right where we want it.
If you have an intake and exhaust first, it would probably help adding the Superchips last. Another thing I noticed, as have other people on here, is that the transmission will hold the gears longer. So the truck rev's a lot easier and gets you in the "sweet spot" of the RPM range with little effort.
There are a lot of other options with the Flashpaq 3815 as far as adjusting for tire size, gear ratio, etc. I have still have stock tires and gears, so I haven't played around with thos areas.
But to answer your question, yes I'd buy one. It makes the throttle much more responsive, accelerates better, and gives more low end power. I am not sure if Hypertech or Jet do the same thing, but I'm completely satisfied with Superchips.

...my truck feels like a badass since I got my SC. I'm always into it so I can't tell if I'm saving gas or not..lol. feels like a brand new truck, I re-fell in love with my truck again since i installed it... my sweet spot settings are 6150/140/87 or 91 .... words can't explain how it feels...
