RE: Do i really need 4x4..
My .02, I'm glad I bought the 4x4. I don't use it often. Mostly in the rain. I learned that the hard way. I was in 2 wheel in the rain and damn near went full sideways. Instantly through it into 4 high. never a problem after that. Even if you only use it one time a year, it's nice to have it if you ever need it.

RE: Do i really need 4x4..
4x4 was a deal breaker for me... If I couldn't get 4x4 I wouldn't have bought my new dodge... I had a 4x2 before this, and I'm not much of an off-roader... But in the time I had my 4x2 I got stuck three times, and every single time I wished I had a 4x4... Once, I was on a 300 mile road trip, pulled into a gas station, and around back there was this HUGE Soft spot in the snow, I got sunk a good foot and a half... No way I could get out of it. Another time I got stuck in the snow in a parking lot... Third time was stuck in the mud.
4x4 rides higher in the front, and if you get a 2003-2005 you can always crank the torsion bars to get an extra 1-2" on the front end and tuck some 35"s... IF you're into that kind of thing. Like I said, I'm no offroader, but it's nice to have these things, they come in handy.

Thanks for the replies guys. Suppose i should post my reason for owning the truck as well.
I am not into lifting it at all, actually the opposite. I have friends with lifted HD's, ****s are badass, dont get me wrong.
Here's my plan, even though im sure im gonna get a bunch of hate for lowering a truck. Gonna get a SLT Ram HEMI, 4x2, lower it, throw some 22inch SRT10 rims, and an intake headers, and full exhaust. Chip, possible supercharger in the late future. I love the painted bumpers. I could always pick up a saturn for winters, etc.. Always been into street rods, and lowered Ram's look awesome if done right.

Heres the height dimensions out of the 06 brochure .... I was going to slide on the 4x4 so that I could afford a Diesel. I thought about being stranded out here in Hurdle Mills NC during some kind of storm with my three hens. Naaaaaa ... I opted for the 4x4 .... Im born and raised Suffolk County Long Island and live in the Albany area for a while. Im not sure where you are, but you have to admit that a 4x4 would be nice in the winter.
Another thing is on my 05, (own a Mega cab now) shown in the avatar, the front axle did hang slightly below the front bumper ... wouldnt that effect your ability to slam the Ram ?

Hey, just playing devil's advocate here, but if gas mileage truely is not an issue, why not look for a 2005 SRT-10 Ram? I mean, if you put a supercharger on a hemi the gas mileage will be about the same (I assume) and the SRT-10 would have a warranty. You supercharge, good luck getting any powertrain related parts (including computers) warrantied.
You seem set on 2WD with big power, why not go all the way and scare old ladys and punks in Camaros?
Oh yeah, you can still supercharge if feel you are still power deficient.
