Default spare tire security

Just wondering what methods of locking the spare tire members have tried.

There is a mopar brand type lock that I was supposed to take pictures of a while back. My wife just got a new camera a couple of weeks ago and I've been slacking. Let me see if I can get some pics and post it for you guys.

My truck came from the factory with a braided cable and padlock on my spare tire, with 2 special keys...

I suppose if somebody *REALLY* wanted to steal it, a pair of bolt cutters and a tire iron might do the trick...

That's exactly what I was thinking when I looked at the steel cable lock(Master Lock) that locks the wheel to the frame. Can't make it unstealable, so I'll just have to slow them down a little.

mine was stolen 3 weeks ago, along with the Ram parked next to me

soon as I get a new one im going to try chaining it up

make sure you protect your weeks too, not just the spare (locking lug nutz)

I use a really cheap bike cable and lock that is NOT hardened and a hack saw in the truck. That way, 3 years from now when the lock is hopelessly frozen from road grime and salt, I can still cut the lock off.

I had it lowered twice (on my old trucks)and not taken because of the cable.

I've had the same idea about the cable. I had that on my old truck and it was never stolen. I haven't put anything on my new truck. However, while doing a search. I found this type and it looks pretty secure.

I haven't bought one so I don't really know anything other then what I have read.

I saw that lock while searching the web, but have been unable to find it here in Canada. I emailed the company for shipping info, but have not heard anything back as of yet. In a moment of weakness, I had ordered the Mopar lock, but then decided to look elsewhere for the time being.
