I do use the locking tail gate...I built up a false floor on the Ford, great for securing loads , you casn screw 2x4 into the 3/8 false floor and my tools stow underneath on a 4x8 sheet of plywood, when tail gate is locked, my tools are secure...But Today I saw a older dodge ram that had a aftermarker tail gate latch with a lock built into it, most likely I will buy a toper for the 2500....

Cyclone,
I have the truck in a 2005 model that is exactly the same as what you are looking at. If I keep my foot out of the pedal, in combines city and highway driving, I get around 15.5 mpg. If you were to run this on a straight trip down the highway, I don't doubt you'd see 17+ mpg. I have a Century fiberglass cap on mine also which adds not only weight but some additional wind resistance also.
The ride is great, but not cushy. It has a very solid feel to it, and responds very well to any driving style---you won't be afraid to push it into corners. You also will have absolutely no trouble passing, even at highway speeds. The tranny is smooth and tight, with narrow shift gates---it took me a little getting used to at first.
One word of advice, when you receive your truck, check the tire pressures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine was shipped at 80 psi It rode like a stagecoach at first. 42 front---40 rear works great.
Good Luck and enjoy the ride---this truck is an animal, after you drive it for a while, you'll understand better what I mean.[sm=bounceybounce.gif]

I'm so looking forward to the new ram.2500 SLT.. I added cab marker lights, Fog lights, trailer tow group, 373 LTD slip ,The BFG RT T/A tires, 265 70 17 ( bought a set all ready for the Ford ) skid plates-protection group to the truck, I'm not sure if I picked atlantic blue or Patriot blue, ( I'm happy eithier way ) medium slate grey for the seats...
I wanted the SRT 10 hood scoup for the truck but that was 1500.00 Cdn, $$$ can be better spent on a cold air kit or dual ex... I'm on a budget now that the Im up side down on the F-150..
question : Where are the Ram trucks built ? Sales man told me the 5.7 was built in mexico, I thought the 2500 was built in Windsor Ontario...
Ford...P 235 70 17 hancook dynapro at is the standard tire on a 04 + F-150 a 2ply passenger car tire....thats why I bought the R/T Ta tires....
For all the improvements ford built into the F-150, items like shocks, battery, tire, seat fabric, pis poor build quality, sucky 4 speed automatic, extra lbs, poor brakes led me to Dodge....
