No problem on my 04 with a 26 gallon tank. My last truck, a rice burner developed the problem at 225,000 miles. It was a cracked return hose. This allowed it to lose enough presure so the hose would not click off.

 

the dealer is going to put in a new tank next week, i hope this will fix the problem, i will let you know

 

1/2 day to install the new tank,not bad, 1st fill up went great! i hope i dont have any more gas spills,

 

Well i just filled up my tank for the first time after the replacement and it seems ok for now...No Spill and no overfills.

I have this concern now, maybe you folks can take a look and comment.

really my 07 spills 100% of the time took it to the dealer and they said they replaced another trucks tank and it didnt fix it.

 

My '07 does it every single time, no matter how far i slow the pump down. It didn't used to, but now it's every single fill up without fail. Spills a good half gallon of gas. One of these days I'm going to get it into the dealer.

 

Ok I work in the Gas industry and i service Gas pumps.

The way the nozzle works(weither its stage vapor recovery( the thinker hoses) or the thinner type hose that you would see on all Diesel pumps) No matter what the nozzle is supposed to click off once the gas reaches the top of the nozzle in the tank ( via the small opening at the end) the way it does this is by cutting off the ability to breath and vent vapors) This seems like a very common issue among the dodge trucks but im gonna bet to say that its the stations and crappy maintence, and has nothing to do with your trucks.

maybe im right maybe im wrong but this is just to me common knowledge.

ONCE gas reaches that small opening in the tip of the nozzle it should click off no matter what.

another issue could be that the spring that kicks the nozzle off (auto lever) that leaves it clicked on maybe broke and isnt letting the auto lever kick up once this point is reached.

couple maybes couple could bes i dunno conicidence or not, i only fill up at the stations that i service (mobils) cause iv seen how other stations maintain and keep there pumps. i dont know about ur area as the company that i work for own and operates 175 stores in the Saint louis and surrounding areas city/rural also they own pretty many of the BP stations.

Is it ur trucks im gonna lean against no just because of my knowledge of how gas pumps operate

 

While everything said above may be mostly true..I know for a fact that every gas station I filled at resulted in the overflow situation I had. When the dealer eventually replaced the tank at those same gas stations I no longer have a problem.

My reccomendation is to keep pushing the issue at ur dealers if the truck is under warranty until they fix it by replacing the tank.

I just took my 2007 to the Jeep converted Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealer here in Southfield MI and they told me the tank and filler neck are fine and that the valves all seem to be ok. I have a problem 90%+ of the time I fill up even if it's on the second click when filling. I have to use the first (slowest) one or its going to overflow. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!
