Default Tow package wiring on 1500

I just purchased a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport, 5.7 Hemi with 5.92 rear axle, with tow package. Does anyone know if there is wiring already present in the dash for an electric brake controller? If it is there, I can't find it or maybe I don't know what I am looking for. I thought the pigtail was supposed to be there so I could just plug it into the controller and go. Thanks for any advice.

Not sure about a pigtail, but the blue wire for the electric brake controller should be tucked up under the dash near the driver's side.

osteodoc08 is right, you should find it up under the dash tied way up high on the left (drivers side).

The factory tow package should include the pigtail harness in the glove box. If it's not there make the dealer give you one. It plugs in under the dash on the left side.

That's correct. Then all you need to do is splice that harness into the controller wiring. If you don't like the splicing, if you go with Tekonsha, they make harnesses for about $14 that plug in directly to the connector Doc's talking about.

I second the Tekonsha. It is a great, userfriendly and durable product. My friend has one in his Silverado for the horse trailers he has. His mother shows horses and those trailers are absolutely heavy, but super nice.
