Unscrew the two screws on the inside of the tailgate and pull until you and the taillight assembly hit the ground. Seriously they are a bitch tio pull out.

As Daddywags said......they are a bit of a b**ch. Remove the two torquex screws on the inboard side of the truck bed on the side of the light clusters.
Next..........try and pry your fingers behind either the top or the bottom of the light cluster, just where you feel it resisting removal.
Just do one or the other but not both. Work your fingers until the top or bottom edge of the cluster, pops away from it's mount. Try and make it a staight pry/pull away from the back of the truck. Then do the same to the other. This will be easier as you have one already removed.
There's two small mushroom shaped plastic pegs, which push into two rubber gromet type holes creating a tight fit.
Stick with it and they will come off...........usually in a hurry ha ha ha.
Hope this helps?
Al.
